Here I review the media I have consumed since the start of 2026. I will give each piece of media up to 5 stars ★.
Books
Piranesi
★★★★★
Thoughts on Piranesi: How human-centric shall I see the other world. Has the Albatross found its way through the first Vestibule, or have we forgotten it? Were the statues people that lived, or only representations of their being? The Other world is the cave. It is eroding and will one day vanish, but what was the water that originally flowed through it. What are the literal waves that crush it? Is it us forgetting about the whimsical? Will this world even exist once the likes of now not entirely Piranesi are gone? The plot with 16 is wonderful, and she evokes a feeling of escapism. The other world could be what we want the world to be. Perfect, idealised versions of the real world. It makes us forget our woes and strips a person down to their most essential part. While Piranesi knew nothing of the outside world, he still chased after recognition and self-fulfillment after all (taking care of the dead, conversing with birds, decorating his hair.) And even then, his description of the actual world sounded only like how a passenger would describe it. Why was it so distant? And why after all did he describe the actual world as the infinitely kind house? Well, it could be that our world is just another other world. Who knows?
Games
Bug Fables
★★★★★
Bug Fables is the one game that I have played a long time ago, and that I have to write about here. It is a brilliant game. It is inspired by Paper Mario, and let it be said that I have not played Paper Mario before this game. No, even better: This game inspired me to play Paper Mario 1&2. The music is crazy good, the main trio functions wonderfully (I love those three far too much), and the overall plot was passable. The game is far from perfect but even with its imperfections, it is my favorite game. Ever.
Spider-Man Remastered
★★★
Spider-Man was a delight through and through. High quality gameplay, however with no real innovation. It was exactly what I expected from it, with an okay story.
Slay the Princess
★★★★★
Slay the Princess is a quaint, little game. In my interpretation, we played Order, someone who would always stay the same, and the Princess was Change. She represented Change, but she was the only one that truly changed. Whenever I experienced 'change', it came in the form of another voice joining the cast. While this could be interpreted as change, it is more accurate to say that another facet of me joined (probably due to the princess changing herself.) The Corvus was a stubborn one. As far as I can tell, he was the last Echo of a Human that wanted to destroy death. Luckily, it didn't work, as he has really bad Charisma stats. If he destroyed the Mound, he would've destroyed all possibility and thus not only death but creation, too. I am satisfied with being one again in infinity.
Chicory
★★★
I know it was really good and I only have two Wielder Challenges left but I really didn't feel it. I liked it a lot, and maybe I will play it to completion one day. The scream of Chicory that one time was great though. It gave me chills.
Beacon Pines
★★★★★
Beacon Pines surprised me fully by dropkicking me the first time the ice happened. It made me cry when Beck and Luka screamed how they hated their lifes, it made me laugh whenever Rolo appeared. This is a must play game.
Sheepy
★★★★★
Ahhhh, beautiful first work by MrSuicideSheep. Their team of developers and the helpers made a really convincing first look into an intruiging story and an intruiging world. I want to know more about it. Damn those French.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
★
It was very disappointing game. All of the characters are boring, basic OCs, and the gameplay really fell off from Age of Calamity.
Anodyne 2
★★★★★
What an absolute masterpiece. This is one of the games that are difficult to explain without spoiling everything. Its surreal landscapes, wonderful art, and writing captivated me. This is a game that you should play without watching a trailer. Just be surprised by the magic it holds for you.
