The Burg of Bim
The Burg of Bim
Once upon a time, there was a postman. He traveled all across the world in a flash. Wherever he appeared, he brought joy, and when he left, everyone he left behind was a better person than they were before. And at the end of the day, he arrived back at his home. He lived in a giant castle he found one day. And over the years he turned this impressive castle into a hole-filled mess. Using the front entrance is boring after all, so he decided to use the ceiling to break his fall whenever he returned with speeds that broke the sound barrier multiple times. And there in this castle - now maybe only half a castle - he lived his life... quite unfulfilled. Even though he made many happy, he never truly had a talk with anyone. And he knew the obvious fact as to why that was. The tragic truth about him was that he is a dog. The only dog. An incredibly lonely dog.
That was, until a young six-legged beast of burden it's similarly young herder stumbled upon the castle.
To clarify: The excitable Botsch-calf called Mimmi stumbled upon the castle as it was playing chase with her best friend. It padded happily into the burg with it's six legs. It's maw with it's herbivorous teeth was drawn into something reminiscing a smile.
After her followed a young, exhausted boy called Honor. Honor, the puddle of sweat stumbled after Mimmi. He entered the castle face first as he fell over a piece of rubble strewn across the ground at the entrance doorway. When he picked himself up again, he saw his eternal nemesis standing at the end of a great hall that was decorated with red carpets and a giant chandelier. Given, the red carpets were scorched and the chandelier was not affixed to the ceiling but neatly smashed into the far corner of the room next to a staircase that split to the left and right halfway up. It would have been quite dark in this big hall were it not for hundreds of small holes in the ceiling that gave the castle a very cheese-y feel. Even weirder, the holes were perfectly circular. Honor stood up and yelled at the young Botsch: "Mimmi, come on! It's getting late!"
On hearing her name, Mimmi only became more excited. Her little stumpy tail started wagging all the more and she clumsily waddled her way up the stairs. This one was the favorite of her weird siblings. The other two furless ones never really interacted with her so she was happy that this one always played with her. And he had the stamina to keep up with her, not like the old one. She herself was the most enduring of her herd and she proved it once again. When she arrived at the top of the stairs, her nose flared with pride. She however noticed, that Honor made it up the stairs at breakneck speeds, skipping up a whole two stairs in one step. Two! Scandalous! How he did it with his two legs, she did not know. With six legs, she should be better in all regards. She knew that six were more than two and therefore better. She could however not count to seven and was very disturbed by the idea of seventh things. She elected to start back at one whenever that time came around. Honor has almost reached her and not wanting to lose, she looked around the second floor. The second floor was a round strip of walkable ground connected to the walls. The middle of the room was empty, giving full view of the floor below. The chandelier would have looked wonderful from this position, and to be honest still did. The light from the holes in the ceiling reflected in an interesting way in the hazardous heap of broken glass. But those weren't thoughts a Botsch ought to have, Mimmi thought and sprinted into one of the rooms that presented itself in the walls of the upper floor. She chose one of the doors leading to the far side and -
A Dead End. No!
She stood in the corner of a dark room, behind her stood an array of tables neatly placed against the wall. She felt warmth coming from them. But more importantly: Honor stood in the doorway. She knew she was not very tall yet, she only made it halfway up his body, however if she is to lose, she'd rather lose with a fight. So she charged at him visciously.
When Mimmi turned around and started to waddle awkwardly towards Honor, he already knew what was coming. She was probably thinking she looked imposing, but the way she lifted her legs further up made it look like she was dancing towards him in a beat none of them could hear. When she reached him, she reared up, completely killing her momentum. She then pounced at Honor. Good. Like always Honor crouched low and when she jumped at him, he caught her in midair. Honor lamented how much heavier she has gotten. Mimmis added weight from recent growth made him fall to the ground. He was worried how this played out once she was fully grown. He had only one more head worth of height within him. He knew she will double in height in the next five years. He didn't want to become a Botsch-related casualty. And so he laid there for a while. Mimmi huffed with pride every few seconds. She will certainly get down now. Any minute. Honor felt a pain in his ribcage that he knew did not belong there. He started tapping the side of Mimmi. As he started groaning she however moved down off of him.
Honor stood up and felt more pain in his ribcage. Bones are quite bendable and can withstand a lot of stress. He learned that from experience. In the timeframe in which his bones return to their preferred form, he was uncomfortable at best and thinking about a cautionary visit to the village doctor at worst. He did not want to bother the doctor again. So this would be... a comforting visit to his biggest brother. His brother always made the best spiced Starp edges for him when he was in a bad mood. But that was a plan for later. Honor snapped back to the situation he was really in. He finally had time to take in his surroundings. He looked around in the dark room he found himself in.
Around him was a pile of different devices. He seemed to be in some kind of workshop. There were those alchemy flask thingies... and and the reagents, yes. That's the powder stuff. He read about that. And there was some glowing box on a table that gave him the feeling he should not touch it. Mimmi looked at him from under the table. He totally understood everything going on here. Yes. And he was sure that Mimmi was totally dumbfounded here. Unlike him, of course.
A loud crash sounded through the castle. Honor immediately looked towards the entrance of the workshop. Mimmi knocked her head on the bottom of the table and knocked the fist-sized box off. No time to worry about that.
"Mimmi, we need to go."
"Moo."
"Yes!"
They started running and peered into the hall below. A circular dust cloud hung in the air and something stood within it. Mimmi looked around for Honor. She saw that he already ran further away, looking at some hallway leading further into the castle. He could also be smart sometimes. Mimmi was of the opinion that the smartest direction to run in when facing danger is away. Thus she followed where he was beckoning her. Where he was, a long hallway opened itself up towards more of the castle and hopefully more space to hide from whatever landed in the entrance hall. He beckoned Mimmi over and ran into the hallway. Rooms lined the walls to the left and the right but hiding in there would only leave them trapped. They sprinted on to the end of the hallway.
Back there was a room filled with pink and white plushies that overstimulated Mimmis eyes. On top of that, there were furs of all sizes, meticulously made comfortable.
Before they understood the room, something appeared behind them. And like the world forgot to pay attention for a moment, a wind blast followed the creature. But the wind did not stop, and Honor felt his feet being lifted off the ground. He was flung backwards, thinking that was it. But instead of a stone wall, he felt a mountain of fluff catch his horizontal fall. Mimmi had about the same fate. Both she and Honor tried getting upright again for a long second. They finally had the chance to take a peek at the monster that was about to destroy them.
The creature that threw them into the pillows made a sound, snapping Honor back to the problem at hand. He could not place the sound though, for he has never heard it before. Though the ways to describe it were myriad. An onomatopoetic description would have been "woof", or "bark". Even "arf" or "bork" might have sufficed. But due to regional dialects and forms of language, Honor settled on "wuff". In front of him stood an animal. It resembled a [[Luggi]], though that was not quite right. It's body was slightly longer, it was covered in golden fur, it's forehead was less flat, more defined. It retained the Luggi's pointed snout, but had a longer neck and floppy ears.
It's long tail wagged excitedly, but warily.
